Imagine you are playing in a bad game to get even, and you just made
a loose call pre-flop because of some odd reason or you’re just
steaming (hot, frustrated, angry after taking a bad beat) so you
call a raise with 73 suited pre-flop, flop a flush and lose to a
higher flush.

Now you get even more “tilty” and start throwing money around like
one of those tennis machines that throws balls at you 😉

That’s a solid case of tilt leading to even more tilt.

But, let’s get back to our main topic!

For me, tilt is anything that deviates from my best game–my
A-game. Let’s set the bar high here and only play when we are
playing our best! This is my goal.

Obvious signs that you are on tilt are:

1. Anger
2. Frustration
3. You are breaking a sweat while playing poker
4. You are making odd new moves (raising, calling, folding)
5. Thoughts like “I am going to get this guy.”
6. “I’ll just play until I get even.”
7. Your friend/spouse/whatever comes into the room and you tell
him/her to piss off and not disturb you.

The last point, of course, obviously does not apply, if someone is
disturbing you way too often. But say you just lost a hand and
haven’t been getting any cards or playing well, you feel a bit
clouded, emotionally drained, and your friend walks into the room
and asks something and you tell him/her to get out, as you don’t
want to hear stupid questions when you’re playing!

That’s a classic sign. So let’s move on here. Why and how does tilt
give you such an edge?

Imagine the following two scenarios:

Scenario #1: Bob has been playing poker for one year and is average
at poker strategy. He knows to play tight and plays generally well,
though he isn’t tricky and doesn’t pull any odd moves or bluffs. On
the other hand, he is excellent at self-discipline, uses great game
selection, and only plays when the games are good to very good.

He has a minimal risk of ever going broke, since he utilizes sound
money management rules and follows them strictly. He also is
observing himself, and has written down a list of “Tilt Symptoms”
and keeps adding to the list. Every time he sees a symptom, he
leaves the game immediately.

Scenario #2: Steve has been playing poker for a few years now, and
he’s good at reading players but he plays too loose and has a
tendency to tilt and spew chips a lot. His money management rules
are non-existent and he often finds himself stuck and in a game
full of great players.

Steve has some good runs, he moves up limits when he has 2-4
buy-ins for the next limit–why wait?

One buy-in is enough. He sometimes runs his $1,000 up to $50,000
and lives the highlife, but quickly comes back down the rollercoaster
and finds himself broke and ends up borrowing money from friends and
working a part- or a full-time job to make ends meet until
“his luck turns around.”

These are extreme examples, especially the last one, but I wanted
to get my point across. If you are an average player and have the
other aspects down, you will very likely be a long-term winner.

If, on the other hand, you are like our buddy Steve, you will have
problems IF you don’t change. But if you do change and start
working on the other aspects, there is a good chance you will
become an excellent poker player one day!

1 hour and 10 mins, thats all it took to remove gaz from the game why?

did i play bad NO

i was card dead i mean i played THREE hands thats it in theory it was my best game EVER i played the best i have ever played yet not once did i get the break i so badly needed!

why i dont know card dead was the way it went and trust me it really did,

i just cant justify it i mean it came down to it i shoved on A4 hearts i was not going to survive might as well go out on an ace…

an ACE came on the flop my eyes lit up my heart started to beat a little faster i couldnt move my eyes of that ACE that was my lifeline then i hear the words I BET fuck fuck fuck hope he has king please god let it be a king RE RAISE oh shite….

it went on for a while turn came a Q and that was it really AQ won the pot i ws out 79 out of 170 odd i think.

so now i know i can play the tight game and get to 79th i guess its time to introduce a little spice…

so tonight i am putting my remaining $3.30 into the pokerchipsquad league game i really need to cash so im concentrating even more.

my prayers start here

this is something i have read today and i am going to be attempting to work off over the next month to see if this system works its long winded so bear with me , i also hope that it helps others out so here it goes,

here is a modified version of sklanskys starting hands table it was adapted becuase it was too tight and rigid and made into a more playable approach,

the hands are devided and set into groups 1 through to 8 there is also two random groups 30 and 99.

GROUP  1-8 ; these are good hands PRE-FLOP 1 bieng the best and 8 bieng still playable BUT WITH CUATION

REMEMBER EVERY HAND IS FOLDABLE IF YOU DO NOT FEEL HAPPY WITH IT.

GROUP 30; these are ‘QUESTIONABLE’ hands those that should not be played more than 25% of the time. but can be played OCCASIONALLY in order to mix things up and keep your opponent/s off balance.

LOSE PLAYERS allways play these hands , tight players will almost never play them good players play them occasionally to mix things up (or in blinds)

GROUP 99; these are TRASH cards and should NEVER be played (unless stuck with them in the BB but easy to get away from if they don’t hit on the flop ect)

ADAPTING YOUR STARTING HANDS TO THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS

as the number of players at the table reduce your effective “position” is altered.

overall you should increase the number of the hands you play. as a general rule of thumb, for every three players elimatated/moved from a 10 seater table increase the hand groups you play for example with 6 players remaining you can treat group 2 like group1 group 3 hands like group 2 and so on,

with only four players remaining you can treat group 2 AND 3 as group 1

and group 4&5 like group 2 this is a general rule of thumb and gives a general idea.

playing specific hands.

AA- when you get “pocket rockets” it is reccommended raising with them like throwing a bet out at least THREE times the BB. your aim is to drive as many of the pot as possible REMMEBER whilst pocket ACES are a great starting hand they are still JUST A PAIR!!!!!. a lot of people seem to forget this.

pocket aces only win around 31% of the time assuming that a nine player game where other playes stick with you till the end THAT MEANS THAT YOUR POCKET ACES WILL GET CRACKED 79% OF THE TIME!!!

KK pocket cowboys are a fantastic starting hand whenever you get these you had better come out like a cowboy and firing bet BIG get as much value as you can for them. the odds of winning are slightly less than the ACES but a fantastic starting hand. but be aware of the flop BE PREPARED TO THROW AWAY THE COWBOYS IF YOU SEE AN ACE..

QQ the cowgirls against a random hand qq has around a 80% chance of winning PRE FLOP  but now we have to become cautiuos still bet but if someone eargerly follows you consider the fold. if a flop reads AK your in a tight spot.

JJ pocket jacks is a very DANGEROUS starting hand. you need to raise these BIGGER that qq or kk or AA you MUST drive EVERYONE out of the pot who might be holding A or Q or infact K.

jj really is a set value hand to be fair  under play then and your in trouble NEVER trap or slow play them

TT AND LOWER

most of the time you need to play these hands as set value this is especially true if your opponent shows a strong starting hand pre-flop.

the desicion really lies in wether you want to play any hand lower than a pair of  TENS. it depends greatly on the makeup of your table the type of player and the strenght they are showing pre flop.

well i apologize again for the extreme long post i hope that others get some advice from this as much as i am now anyone wishing to leave feedback  great lol anyone want to add owt great see ya for now gaz
