poker hands starting hands
this is something i have read today and i am going to be attempting to work off over the next month to see if this system works its long winded so bear with me , i also hope that it helps others out so here it goes,
here is a modified version of sklanskys starting hands table it was adapted becuase it was too tight and rigid and made into a more playable approach,
the hands are devided and set into groups 1 through to 8 there is also two random groups 30 and 99.
GROUP 1-8 ; these are good hands PRE-FLOP 1 bieng the best and 8 bieng still playable BUT WITH CUATION
REMEMBER EVERY HAND IS FOLDABLE IF YOU DO NOT FEEL HAPPY WITH IT.
GROUP 30; these are ‘QUESTIONABLE’ hands those that should not be played more than 25% of the time. but can be played OCCASIONALLY in order to mix things up and keep your opponent/s off balance.
LOSE PLAYERS allways play these hands , tight players will almost never play them good players play them occasionally to mix things up (or in blinds)
GROUP 99; these are TRASH cards and should NEVER be played (unless stuck with them in the BB but easy to get away from if they don’t hit on the flop ect)

ADAPTING YOUR STARTING HANDS TO THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS
as the number of players at the table reduce your effective “position” is altered.
overall you should increase the number of the hands you play. as a general rule of thumb, for every three players elimatated/moved from a 10 seater table increase the hand groups you play for example with 6 players remaining you can treat group 2 like group1 group 3 hands like group 2 and so on,
with only four players remaining you can treat group 2 AND 3 as group 1
and group 4&5 like group 2 this is a general rule of thumb and gives a general idea.
playing specific hands.
AA- when you get “pocket rockets” it is reccommended raising with them like throwing a bet out at least THREE times the BB. your aim is to drive as many of the pot as possible REMMEBER whilst pocket ACES are a great starting hand they are still JUST A PAIR!!!!!. a lot of people seem to forget this.
pocket aces only win around 31% of the time assuming that a nine player game where other playes stick with you till the end THAT MEANS THAT YOUR POCKET ACES WILL GET CRACKED 79% OF THE TIME!!!
KK pocket cowboys are a fantastic starting hand whenever you get these you had better come out like a cowboy and firing bet BIG get as much value as you can for them. the odds of winning are slightly less than the ACES but a fantastic starting hand. but be aware of the flop BE PREPARED TO THROW AWAY THE COWBOYS IF YOU SEE AN ACE..
QQ the cowgirls against a random hand qq has around a 80% chance of winning PRE FLOP but now we have to become cautiuos still bet but if someone eargerly follows you consider the fold. if a flop reads AK your in a tight spot.
JJ pocket jacks is a very DANGEROUS starting hand. you need to raise these BIGGER that qq or kk or AA you MUST drive EVERYONE out of the pot who might be holding A or Q or infact K.
jj really is a set value hand to be fair under play then and your in trouble NEVER trap or slow play them
TT AND LOWER
most of the time you need to play these hands as set value this is especially true if your opponent shows a strong starting hand pre-flop.
the desicion really lies in wether you want to play any hand lower than a pair of TENS. it depends greatly on the makeup of your table the type of player and the strenght they are showing pre flop.
well i apologize again for the extreme long post i hope that others get some advice from this as much as i am now anyone wishing to leave feedback great lol anyone want to add owt great see ya for now gaz

I am going to pick on a section here,
“JJ pocket jacks is a very DANGEROUS starting hand. you need to raise these BIGGER that qq or kk or AA you MUST drive EVERYONE out of the pot who might be holding A or Q or infact K.”
Whoever wrote that has never played poker online, this might work in high stack real life games but for online poker its never going to work.
The reality is you can never drive everyone else out of the hand or pot, so with JJ ( and QQ TT ) make a decent raise but not so expensive that you are so committed you can’t lay them down. Half the time someone with Ace-rag is going to be in there with you whatever your raise is.
